Rachel Patrick

I am a self-taught painter from Scotland. I started painting and posting my works to social media at the beginning of the Covid pandemic. I use oil and gouache paint as I love how versatile and opaque both mediums are.

I am inspired by the world around me, especially everyday objects that we don’t think about too much on a typical day. I want to tell the audience that there can be beauty in everyday objects and that we often don’t have t0 look far to be inspired.

I always try to bring a sense of fun into my paintings. 

Why do I like art and painting?

I like to paint as I can escape into my own creative world and focus on something that makes me feel good. I’ve loved art since I was a child and I find creating it and looking at it calming.   

Currently for me the biggest challenge is building self-belief as an artist, but this is something I am slowly getting better at.
